The Sun Appears

June was immersed in a book. It was early morning still and the sun had yet to rise. She had finished her early morning chores and decided to curl up in a comfy chair with a cup of tea and a book. It was chilly that morning and June grabbed a nearby shawl to warm her shoulders.

It was April and you never know what April might bring. But usually it meant cold mornings and warmer days once the sun came up. This morning was especially cold though. A Spring snow had blown through yesterday and the outside hadn’t quite yet recovered.

As June turned the page of her book, she grabbed her teacup to take a sip of tea. Suddenly she felt a warmth on her face. She looked up to find that the day had roused itself while she was deep within the pages of her book. The warm sun had lifted above the treetops and light had surrounded her. A sun ray beamed down on her from the solarium window.

“Okay,” she said. “I hear you. It’s time to start the day.”

And with that, she put her bookmark in the pages of her book, the ribbon draped over the back cover. And she closed her book. Laying down on the table, she paused for a second, torn between wanting to finish just one more chapter and exploring the world outside those pages. But who knew what adventure the day would bring. Whatever it was, she was ready to find out.
